Dominican College is pleased to announce the dedication of the Madeline Micceri Mignone Biology Lab. The new lab will be reserved for Faculty/Student Research. Dr. Mignone has been a driving force behind the Biology Program at the College and has had an enormous impact on students in the sciences.
The Biology program at the College, which has grown significantly over the past several years, was in need of a dedicated research laboratory space for undergraduate research. This lab meets an increased demand for skills in molecular and cell biology techniques.
Materials and furnishings for the lab were donated by Pfizer. Committed to applying science and global resources to improve health and well-being at every stage of life, Pfizer has made a commitment to bring trained scientists and effective and affordable medicines to the people who will need them.
The creation of this research space facilitates collaboration with other research institutions. Dominican College has an articulation agreement with New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Research collaboration with NYU is also in the discussion stage.
Dominican College has established itself as a premier educational institution in the Hudson Valley Region. Its reputation for educating health care professionals, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, is widely acclaimed. A strong science program, built through dedicated faculty and interdisciplinary collaboration, is a distinguishing feature of its academic excellence. The opportunity to establish a dedicated Research Lab is most timely as the Biology Program now enrolls over 100 students. The impact of mentored research for our students is profound. A scholarly pursuit of biological research will enhance their position for graduate study and career placement in the future.
