These initiatives are the focal point for campaigns, special events and activities. The success of the fundraising efforts is a testament to the philanthropic spirit of the communities the University serves.
New Campus Development
Mandated by the Board of Trustees, the development of the University’s new campus on 26 acres engaged Institutional Advancement in three Capital Campaigns over the past twenty years which raised more than $17 million to help build the Hennessy Center for Student Life, the Granito Center, Hertel Residence Hall, and the Prusmack Center for Health and Science Education. The University also purchased Rosary Hall for a Student Residence and Student Life offices. Additional funds were raised to create the Sullivan Library and the Guzman Residence Hall. Presently, the University is engaged in a Comprehensive Campaign for capital expansion, endowment, scholarships, and the Annual Support for strategic initiatives. Endowment Growth
The future of most institutions is dependent on their endowment. The University seeks to grow its endowment primarily from planned giving assets. Planned Giving is the process of providing for charitable gifts through estate bequests. The University is an affiliate member of Leave-a-Legacy of Rockland County which seeks to raise public awareness of charitable giving. The Heritage Society was established to honor the benefactors who have established bequests for the University
Enhanced Technology
All professions demand advanced technological skills in today’s workplace. The graduates of our programs must be prepared to accept leadership roles within this market. The University is committed to the continuous enhancement of its technological resources. The installation of fiber optics cabling connected all the campus buildings, provided internet access and e-mail addresses for the entire campus. The funding for this and future projects relies on operating capital which is enriched by proceeds from the Annual Fund Campaign.
Funded Scholarships
In a typical year, some 95% of Dominican University students will require some form of financial assistance. This is provided with annually donated scholarship funds, gifts to the Annual Fund, restricted contributions, and endowed scholarships, of which the accumulated interest is made available on an annual basis. The University itself provides additional scholarships and grants to the students.
